A Letter from SDMHA President
2020-07-25Dear Sooke Minor Hockey families,
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and looking forward to the upcoming hockey season!
While there has not been a lot of “action” in the sporting world, your Executive Team has been diligently
working and meeting since April to prepare for the 2020/21 Hockey season.
While hockey will look a little different this year, THERE WILL BE HOCKEY!
We are following Hockey Canada, BC Hockey, VIAHA and Seaparc-CRD COVID-19 protocols. These
protocols will include items such as, answering screening questions upon entering Seaparc, restricting our time
spent at the arena before and following a practice, limiting the number of bodies on the ice at one time and
restricting it to one adult/parent accompanying their player to the arena at a time. Seating and viewing areas will
be limited to what Seaparc has deemed safe within their CRD COVID-19 guidelines.
Safety protocols for our players will include limiting numbers allowed in change rooms, bathrooms located
inside changerooms will NOT be accessible and each change room will be sanitized between each use. Every
child MUST have their own labeled water bottle as there will be NO SHARING.
Additional safety protocols will be shared with everyone as we near the start of the season.
We anticipate the season will start September 12, 2020. However, this is fully dependent on Seaparc having the
ice ready to go for us.
We do have some exciting news! We have finally launched ONLINE REGISTRATION! The link for this will
be shared with everyone on Monday! This is going to streamline registration and allow credit card payments
instead of cheques and cash only!!!!
For anyone who has yet to register, you will have the opportunity to do so from July 27 th through to August 9 th
using our new online platform.
Our team numbers and ice footprint will be formed and balanced by August 15 th . This will be the deadline for
any withdrawals for the 2020/21 season. Any withdrawals after this date, please refer to BY-LAW 3
