IMPORTANT: Return to Play for SDMHA 2020
2020-09-01Hello Sooke Minor Hockey Families,
I would firstly like to personally thank all of you for your continued support of Sooke Minor Hockey. Without your support and commitment to the Association, we would not exist. Thank you.
I must also say how very proud of our volunteer Executive team I am. They have worked tirelessly since the end of last season through complex situations and the entire team has embraced the challenge and body checked it head on! The amount of time and effort and commitment they have brought, so all our children can play this season is unbelievable. When you see the executive members around, please be sure to thank them.
Our COVID committee, led by Duncan Havens and Carrie Coleman have been working countless hours with the other South Island Associations to come up with our Return to Play program. I need all members of the Association to review this document and become familiar with it. There are strict protocols in place for all our safety and there will be waivers required to be signed before your player is allowed on the ice. If this is not brought to your first ice session, your player will not be allowed on the ice, absolutely no exceptions. It’s a strong stance, but if we do not follow the protocols, no one will be allowed to play. We must also adhere to Seaparc‘s protocols as well. PLEASE BE SURE TO PRINT OUT AND COMPLETE THE WAIVER TO BRING TO YOUR FIRST ICE SESSION.
So, when is hockey starting you ask? Well, we are very happy to tell you it will be starting the week of September 14th. Finishing touches are being put on the schedule and we ask everyone to keep your eyes on the website and Facebook page for updates. Tryouts for Rep teams will be starting then as well. Players wanting to tryout will be notified of the dates.
We have a lot of other great news for our Association and we will continue to stream that out to you all in due time.
